Our School

History

The Seattle Waldorf High School is located in an historic 1920s school building right across the street from the Seattle Center. Our block was originally a church parish, convent and school, surrounded by a vibrant neighborhood. For the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, the main church and many homes were razed to build what the city planners saw as the future of the city in the 21st century. The school and two other beautiful red stone buildings remain, next door to the landmark Space Needle and the Seattle Center.

Founded in 1980, Seattle Waldorf School offers Waldorf EducationSM to students in parent & tot classes through grade 12. Our school has grown to become the first early childhood through grade 12 Waldorf school in the state of Washington. Our school is one of nearly 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide sharing this 90-year-old educational philosophy.

Community Involvement

Parent participation and support in all aspects of school life is highly encouraged and vital, and takes place through continuing education lectures and workshops, regular parent meetings, and community events.
